Anonymous v. Anonymous (med. malpractice)

A middle-aged lady was transported to a Middle Tennessee hospital, where she was admitted through the emergency room and transferred to the trauma unit. Despite the fact that the patient was exhibiting signs of shock and signs of blood loss she was inadequately monitored, the nurses ignoring serious changes in her condition which resulted in her death from exsanguination after an hour and a half in the trauma unit.

Suit was brought by the husband. The patient also had four grown children who also participated in a loss of parental consortium claim. The parties settled on the day of trial for a confidential sum.

Plaintiff's experts were Dr. Joseph Moylan, trauma surgeon, Duke University, Durham NC; Dr. Daniel Mark, cardiologist, Duke Uni- versity, Durham NC; and Dr. Dorothy Cooke, professor of nursing, St. Louis University, St. Louis MO; and Dr. Gilbert Mathis, econ- omist, Murray State University, Murray KY.

Defendant's experts were Dr. David Richardson of Charlotte NC and Dr. Mike Thomason of Louisville KY.
